Optical Parallels Opus optical parallels have been specifically designed to check the flatness and parallelism of micrometer anvils using the natural phenomena of interference fringes. The thickness of each optical parallel has been selected to ensure that the micrometer faces are checked at every quarter turn of the micrometer screw. The parallels are manufactured to comply with the NPL (National Physical Laboratory) specification MOY/SCMI/54. All sets of optical parallels are housed in high quality wooden cases.
Optical Flats Opus optical flats are a simple and effective way of checking the flatness of reflective surfaces, particualrly when combined with an Opus Monochromatic Light Unit. The flats are manufactured from either fused quartz or Zerodur® to either 0.06 or 0.13 micron for flatness and diameters from 25mm to 100mm are available as standard. We can also offer optical flats manufactured to special tolerances or diameters.
Each optic is calibrated in our own UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) laboratory for flatness and if required parallelism. You can view our UKAS accreditation schedule here .
